Precision drawn parts (or deep drawn parts) are high-precision, seamless metal components created by stretching a single metal blank into complex, hollow shapes—often cylindrical—using a punch and die, where the depth is typically greater than the diameter. This cold-forming process ensures high dimensional accuracy, uniform thickness, and structural integrity, crucial for applications in automotive, electronics, and medical industries.

Deep draw parts are produced using a deep drawing process, a cold stamping forming technique where raw materials are stretched and extruded into parts with complex geometries. So, how do we understand the "deep drawing" process? The key lies in the draw ratio, which is the ratio of the part's opening diameter to the blank diameter. If the draw ratio is greater than 2, then it's called "deep drawing."
Deep Drawn Metal Stamping
Deep drawn metal stamping primarily uses metal as its raw material. Through continuous stretching and extrusion within a mold cavity, it undergoes plastic deformation, resulting in a deep shell or complex cavity. Utilizing the principles of metal plastic deformation and precision mold technology, two-dimensional flat raw materials are processed into three-dimensional parts. Deep Drawn Enclosures
Deep drawn enclosures are primarily used for physical protection, environmental isolation, and structural support of internal components and equipment. Many overseas users prioritize protection reliability when choosing these enclosures. The sealing performance has been further upgraded; the seamless cavity structure combined with a customized sealing groove design achieves IP65-IP68 protection levels, with a liquid leakage rate ≤0.01cc/min and a gas leakage rate ≤0.001cc/min, meeting the waterproof and dustproof requirements of medical instruments.
Deep Drawn Aluminum Enclosures
Deep drawn aluminum enclosures are manufactured using aluminum alloy, which offers a triple advantage over stainless steel and cold-rolled steel shells: lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and easy to process. Aluminum alloy has a density of 2.7 g/cm³, only one-third that of stainless steel, resulting in a significantly reduced weight for the same size enclosure and directly lower transportation costs.

Material Compatibility

Cold-rolled steel sheet
Preferred options are DC04/SPCE/1008, with an elongation ≥38% and a low yield strength ratio. Primarily used in automotive chassis components and appliance housings.
Stainless steel
Mainstream options are 304/316L, primarily known for its corrosion resistance and elongation ≥40%. Suitable for medical equipment, kitchen and bathroom components, and chemical applications.


Aluminum alloy
1060/3003/6061. Aluminum's advantages lie in its weight and good thermal conductivity, making it widely used in new energy battery housings, aerospace components, and radiators.
Copper alloy
Typically T2 copper or C2680 brass. Copper has excellent electrical conductivity and good plasticity, primarily used in electronic connectors and plumbing fittings.

Manufacturing Process
The deep drawing of sheet metal is performed with a punch and die. The punch is used to achieve the desired shape. The die cavity matches the punch; however, it is slightly wider, allowing for passage and clearance. Similar to sheet metal cutting, the clearance is the lateral distance between the die edge and punch edge.
The sheet metal, called a blank, is placed over the opening of the die, where a blank holder surrounding the punch applies pressure to the entire surface of the metal, except the area under the punch. With the blank flat against the die, the punch then moves towards it and makes contact. The punch forces the sheet metal into the die, forming its shape.
Each draw operation is a separate step, and with each step there is a reduction in diameter, increasing the height of the part. To complete the part, there may be several draws, or reductions, made to achieve the desired parameters.
